BIG HEAP OF TOBACCO
A friend mentioned that he was interested in my tobacco posts, and asked if there was any easy way to get at all of them. The reason for his query was probably because of all the other stuff on my blog. Wombats. Zebras. Cantonese teenagers. Existential angst.
Just too much stuff. It gets in the way.
I can understand the complaint, and really do want to cater to the tobacco heads. Who have no interest in anything else.
So I have created a new clickable link on the side-bar ('TOBACCO LIST'), which will always take you directly to this very post.
Which is where you will find links to all tobacco related posts, sporadically updated.
If you came here for news of the cigar-smokers who congregate at a certain spot in downtown San Francisco most weekday afternoons, please follow this link: THE WALL.
They live in their own world, though sometimes it overlaps ours.
Sort of a Venn-diagram of madness.
Very strange.
The articles listed here relate largely to pipes and pipe smoking.

http://atthebackofthehill.blogspot.com/2013/04/on-viability-of-pipe-tobacco-enterprises.html
The tobacco industry as it relates to pipe smokers, what it once was and thoughts about the future, as well as mention of the last tobacconist in
San Francisco, which is actually elsewhere: Telfords, in Mill valley.
If you live near Van Ness Avenue, take the 70 or 80 to Marin. If you work in the Financial District, the 18 will get you there during evening rush hour.
Get off at Seminary Drive and walk past the fast-food joint and the 7-11.
You can smoke there, and there is every reason that you should.
Mr. Marc Levine (a cretin from San Raphael, currently in the California State assembly by mistake) has probably never set foot in the place.

TOBACCO IS BENEFICIAL

Asserting that pot is a noxious weed, and all who partake thereof are irredeemably vile. As well as the considered opinion that California Assemblyman Marc Levine (from San Raphael) is a noodge.
If I had pin-striped boxers, I would wear them.

ON THE VIABILITY OF PIPE TOBACCO ENTERPRISES
Sunday, April 21, 2013
http://atthebackofthehill.blogspot.com/2013/04/on-viability-of-pipe-tobacco-enterprises.html

Now smoking is not popular. Maybe in 1950 it was, but not now...

That's why I propose involving an entirely new generation of smokers. Today's highschool kids need an alternative to illegal drugs and their mothers' medicine cabinets. A number of special brands of cigarettes could very well be developed/designed with today's fresh teen-smoker in mind.
Nice thick Virginia straights for the young ladies ("girl, smoke 'Honey-picked'™ for that sweet clean taste!"), versus rugged caporals for the 'with-it' boy ("Mad Jack™ - it's for the man who knows his own mind").
I am writing up a business plan.
Stay tuned.

To Anonymous at 8:14 PM,
That's because there really isn't much worth smoking.
Now, if you were to mention Dutch cigars, that would be an entirely different matter.

Having a pint of Belgian brew and a bowl of Ennerdale Flake at 8am. I may (by necessity) make it two or three.

Pursuant the mention of watermelon flavoured cigars (first and second comments), please be aware that the CALIFORNIA TOBACCO CENTER
(1501 Polk Street, San Francisco, CA 94109) sells those, as well as grape flavoured cigars.
Without a doubt, this is a profound blessing to the denizens of Lower Nob Hill.

Just ordered six more tins. Along with a medium flake for my own blending purposes.
Will order another six in a few weeks.
Need to continue building up the wall of Pease. Currently at over two hundred tins. Including some stuff from 2003.

Further to the watermelon flavoured cigars mentioned in the second comment, and sourced by the eighth, I must mention that there are also pineapple flavoured stogies there.
Life will never be the same.

"A fusion of ripened Hawaiian mango and chocolate mint blended together in a very unique aromatic cigar."
