In 'The Black Cauldron' (written by Lloyd Alexander), one of the characters says that we mourn some people for what they once were, others for what they have become.
Over the past year I have unfriended three or four individuals.
I do not gladly see people become toxic waste.
There are some folks who are high strung, exceptionally neurotic and very high maintenance. After a while the glitter of their talent fades, and their tense senseless frustration and bitchiness grates on one. Far too often they are New Yorkers.
Several of them have unfiended me over the years.
In retrospect, I'm glad they did so.
Somebody had to.
Upon due consideration I don't think I should ever go to New York. Those people are much more tolerable on teevee, from three thousand miles away, than they might be in person.
