A VOLUNTARY DISEASE

In France, the murderer of Sarah Halimi got off because his defense argued that he had suffered severely diminished mental capacity due to years of marijuana use. That certainly fits with several people I know, one of whom, an attorney in the East Bay, showed up late (or not at all) for every meeting we had with her. Fortunately I haven't dealt with her or that crowd (which included at least three other completely useless East Bay potheads) in several years, and what I remember best is that all meetings which she was too stoned to attend went swimmingly.

It stand to reason that marijuana should be banned as a danger to society, and its devotees punished. Habitual users severely. And I'm fine with that.

The judges ruled that Traoré had been undergoing a "psychotic episode" at the time of the attack and that his "discernment" had been "abolished".

Outlaw marijuana entirely, lock up dealers and users, institute work camps for pot heads. Certainly I have no use for them, and they're not only a nuisance but dangerous.
