GIANT ALIEN MONSTERS!

And now she's talking about the crazy white people. By which she means me. Earlier she had been discussing crazy Chinese people, her people, by which she meant specifically a person we both know, and much more generally, her own kin folk.
I shall not explain why she went off on crazy white people.
Suffice to say it was an exaggeration.
Mostly.

Lunch today was enlivened by the crazy person across the street from restaurant in Chinatown, who waged several violent arguments with invisible people. And. Won.
Every. Single. Fight. An object lesson in anger management. As well as theatre.
Must have been the Cantonese Opera moves and the kung fu strikes.

I may have been the only person for miles around capable of appreciating his stagecraft.
One sees so few totally loopy Chinese here that they stand out.

Especially when fighting daemons and space aliens.
Or, perhaps, he was dancing the macarena?
Reliving the 1996 Democratic convention.
He could have been a delegate then.

Bittermelon and chicken with a black bean gravy over rice, tonnes of hot sauce on the side. After the first visit to a barber in a long time. Ming was delighted to see me. Not only because business has been crap since the start of the pandemic, but also we can communicate, and do. He's looking a bit more wiry, and older, his shop is spotlessly clean, and he's started a lovely collection of rather pretty tea equipment in one corner. I don't know if he ever caught Covid, I didn't ask. I'm fairly certain he's not like some of the crazy white people I know who haven't gotten vaccinated, and he was wearing a mask, as is nearly everyone in Chinatown. What with the increased police presence, AND the prevalence of masks, sane behaviour, and common sense, it's probably the safest part of the city now.

My head feels cool. Colder. But I look much neater now.
It's good to be back to semi-normalcy.
