ONLY TOURISTS WEAR SHORTS

At times it felt like winter. Which it's not supposed to. We're meant to run around gaily outside wearing thin jogging shorts and tee-shirts which are semi-transparent from our perspiration, our mammaries breasting boobily as we head to the cool cool pool for a happy splash. Not creak grumblesomely as our right knee has trouble ambulating because of the cold wind, our goatee developing icicles and our bushy eye brows falling off in frozen chunks.

Lunch was quite enjoyable, but not only because it was inside. Underneath my sweater was a thick warm shirt I had not expected to wear again till either the middle of summer in San Francisco, or late late autumn. The other people in the chachanteng to which I went were also dressed lumpily. We had all thrown style to the winds, the heck with summer gear.
We're sensible and well-insulated.

Spring in this city is the winter of our discontent.

As a man I have never breasted boobily towards anything, that's something I'll leave to large white women in the South and Midwest. Where it is often warmer than here. Though a quick look at the internet shows that today that isn't so.

The characters illustrated above are 'bitter cold' in a variation of Jinwen (金文) script, also called 鐘鼎文 ('jung ding man'; bell-cauldron writing), as was used for inscriptions from earlier than 1000 BCE into the Warring States Period, roughly two hundred years BCE.

Freezing your gand off is such an archaic thing to do.

Your ancestors may have done it.

One caution for out-of-town visitors to San Francisco: in cold weather, drugs and alcohol are quicker taking effect than you would expect. You'll be far stupider far faster. Those of us who are long-time residents here are quite aware of this. It's why we're so abstemious, and only take caffeinated beverages in excess. We can roll you for those Banco De Illinois travellers cheques and your i-phones even as you collapse onto the pee-stained pavement.

So leave all that in the hotel safe, and dress lightly going out.
Perhaps in thin jogging shorts, and tee-shirts.
No pockets.
