BAY AREA PEACE-ACTIVISTS SUPPORT 'RESISTANCE'

As is made clear by their websites, their literature and signs in several protests, and their rhetoric, such Bay Area groups as International ANSWER, the ISM, Students for Justice in Palestine, Bay Area Women in Black, Jewish Voice for Peace, and even members of Code Pink support Hamas.

One of the tropes of the groups listed above is that Hamas represents legitimate popular apirations. The ISM even goes so far as to organize aid to Gaza for that reason.
In this endeavor they are ably assisted by such estimable people as British Member of Parliament George Galloway, whose monetary donations to Hamas have encouraged the "Islamic Resistance", and empowers them to continue their 'struggle'.
Many European socialist parties and politicians also wholeheartedly support Hamas and have contributed significantly to such efforts.

Hamas, of course, knows how to win the loyalty not only of American and European fans, but also how to gain the love of the citizens of Gaza.

Let me quote Yassir Abed Rabo on that score:
"Today, Hamas gangs are unleashed like packs of animals on the streets of Gaza against Fatah members. Because the military bases and the prisons have been destroyed, they have turned Gaza schools, Al-Nasser Hospital, the radiology department at Shifa' Hospital, Al-Aqsa University, and other places, including mosques, into centers for the detention, interrogation, and torture of Fatah members and members of other national Palestinian factions."

"Dozens of people have been shot in the leg, been beaten savagely, and had their bones broken, because they are members of the Fatah movement."

Such ongoing democratic struggle is described in a recent news article here:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7976083.stm

Quotes:
"He pulls up his trousers to reveal horrifically scarred calves missing entire muscle groups. "

"A man, blindfolded and bound, having his legs broken with a club, over and over again - [cut] - writhing on the ground in a public square after what is believed to have been a Hamas punishment beating."

All of this has the sincere support of the good people of Berkeley - International ANSWER, ISM, SJP, BAWIB, JVP, and even members of Code Pink.

Here are two clips which show what else the good people of Berkeley support:

Wedding in Gaza
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAy0ZiMEEmw&NR=1

Hamas pursuing justice in Palestine:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6041204945834291260&hl=en
[This is a truly charming video, and has a lovely song besides. Four stars!]

But the other side can also be accused of not playing entirely by accepted rules. That accusation has been made at lenght, by people who are righteously indignant over the trampling of human rights and the denial of a political voice to the oppressed.

Quote:
"At his home in Nablus, "Abu Moaz", not his real name, tells me that during his six months' captivity in a PA prison, he was often strung up to the ceiling by his wrists, which were tied behind his back, and beaten until he lost consciousness."

Nevertheless, the situation in Gaza under Hamas, and in the West Bank under the PA, is infinitely better than in Syria under Assad (père et fils ), or in Irak when Saddam Hussein was in power. And that is what the good people of Berkeley (International ANSWER, ISM, SJP, BAWIB, JVP, and even members of Code Pink) wholeheartedly support.

One can only admire them for their great internationalist spirit and high ideals. Bravo, Berkeley, bravo.

Sounds just about right for Berkeley. The place is filled with idiots. I would dispute their usefulness, however. I don't think them very useful.

Unless hemorrhoids have a use - maybe evolutionarily.
But until that is established, it is merely a theory, and they are just a royal pain in the ---.

This tragic murder of a Jewish child and the injury to another occurred at the exact same time as the Bay Area's lunatic "left" is screaming and protesting over Tristan Anderson being accidentally injuried while as a foriegn intermeddler in a situation in which he had NO involvement, while in a closed military zone, protesting a wall that prevents Palestinian terror attacks against Jewish civilians. Shall we assume that we will NO such outcry from the Bay Area's lunatic "left'" over the intentional axe murder of a Jewish child by a Palestinian terrorist? After all, if the lunatic "left" hates the walll that prevents Palestinian terror attacks on Jews, obviously, they are in favor of further terrorist attacks. When did THAT become a "progressive value"?

I wonder what Lily Haskell would have to say?

If Lily Haskell was that pale brunette screaming that she would push Zionists down an elevator shaft back in December, she'd probably purchase an axe.

To show her solidarity with the people she would rather be than what she is, of course. And one can understand why she would rather be something else - what she is, is something pretty damn nasty.

She's getting quite a reputation. She'll need some exceptional luck to find employment after she finally graduates - supporting brutal terrorists and bigots is NOT a good thing for one's future career.

And for that matter, Lily Haskell should probably not have donated money to a group that is on record as materially supporting terrorists. Not a good idea. Sorry, miss Lily Haskell - it's on record.

and your proof of these groups' support for Hamas is what exactly?

I find it amazing you can write a whole post entitled "BAY AREA PEACE-ACTIVISTS SUPPORT 'RESISTANCE'" without mentioning one single example of bay area peace activists who support "resistance". I looked on these groups' websites and I couldn't find any examples of support for Hamas. Could you give us the links to back up these claims?

You didn't look very hard. And it is very likely you have never been to one of their events.

And perhaps you are a troll. I would advise the blogger and anyone else not to respond to this attempt at gathering information, but to instead continue gathering the evidence and disseminating it through the usual channels.

http://www.propeller.com/story/2009/01/15/israel-navy-ships-turn-back-boat-carrying-gaza-humanitarian-aid-haaretz-israel-news/

Clear material assistance to Hamas by activist sympathisers, under the guise of humanitarian aid.

Did I already mention that you didn't look very hard?

Funds donated to such ventures permit Hamas to purchase more arms, material donated to such ventures permit Hamas to purchase more arms, volunteers engaged in such ventures give Hamas cover and propaganda assistance that allows them to purchase more arms.

You know what you do. And you know why. And you also know what the result is. To claim otherwise is a smokescreen.

By the way, is it true that Stephen Pearcy and his victim are finally divorcing?

Will she now get the help she so desperately needs? And will he force her to pay him alimony?

He does like them young, eh? And she's looking a little 'old'. Especially now that she's been out of school for several years. And angy that she didn't make partner at Orrick because of his (their) support for organizations on the government list of terrorist groups.

Next one to go: Paul Larrudee.

What, you don't know who that is? Well, that's this chap:

SUAVE CHARMER

"Security officials said that Larudee was one of the ISM’s top leaders and was behind anti-Israel activity during IDF operations in the territories during the height of the Intifada between 2002 and 2004. Officials said that he was once found in the home of a suicide bomber and that he participated in a violent anti-Israel demonstration.
"

Such a nice man.

aaaahh - so some activists tried to get some humanitrian aid into Gaza, therefore all the organizations mentioned all support Hamas. That makes so much sense now.

Obviously, there was no need to even make a connection between each organization mentioned and Hamas, or to explain how humanitarian aid is a form of support - we all know what these lefties are up to even without any proof, and they are all the same anyway.

So sorry for "trolling" - please do continue the indiscriminate smearing.

Here's some very discriminate smearing: (ain't free speech grand?)

There are photos all over the Web of folks like Stephen and Virginia Pearcy holding Hamas and Hezbollah flags. Stevie's been seen genuflecting over a photo of Nasrallah, who has called for the genocide of the Jewish people.

Resistance? The silly "non-zionist" proud to be ashamed to be Jewish folks are having a celebrating resistance themed seder. (not kosher, wrong day, in a church.... shows their deep respect for the traditions of our people, doesn't it?

The whole Nakba 60 fiasco had a "resistance" theme.

Resistance to peace. Resistance to negotiations. Resistance to compromise. Yeah. And thats what its all about.

And lets not forget Richard Becker's famous line from an ANSWER rally a few years back "We are not for peace. We are for the victory of the resistance".

Mr. Troll: your comments indicate that you haven't a clue what goes on in the Bay area "Peace and Justice" movement.

Anonymous said...

ok, so now you provided some evidence linking ANSWER and al-Awda supporters to Hamas (something the blogger should have done in the first place, if this was the point of the post). What about the other organizations mentioned? for example, what makes Code Pink, JVP, SJP, BAWIB "wholehearted supporters" of Hamas?

I guess I just don't see why asking for evidence to back up claims is a form of trolling.

Anonymous said...

Several of the aforementioned organizations are enablers and fellow travelers of anti-Semites.
In my not so humble opinion:
There should be ZERO tolerance to racism.
That means no participation in events with a racist theme. It means no collaboration with racists. It means no aiding and abetting racists.
It means disavowing PUBLICLY the organizations that promote racism, as opposed to co-sponsoring events with them, fundraising with them, etc. It means speaking out AGAINST them when they cross the line. And we know that never happens.

I remember the JVP meeting in Okaland a few years back- the very silly discussion they had "Oh, we should probably condemn anti-Semitism'- not because it was wrong, but because if they didn't they were afraid they'd be held accountable!!!! But they were still willing to work with ant- Semites- their rhetoric and their actions were diametrically oppossed.

Thats when I personally gave up on Jewish Voice for Peace. Their only concern then and now was keeping up appearences.

I guess I just don't see why asking for evidence to back up claims is a form of trolling.

Because there is evidence all over the internet, and some of the evidence is actionable. As, no doubt, you know. That begs the question why YOU are asking for details - especially when so much can be found by intelligent googling.

we all know what these lefties are up to even without any proof, and they are all the same anyway.

There's overwhelming proof. We just aren't sharing it with you. And as regards they're all being the same, sadly that more and more appears to be so. Not only is there a huge overlap in membership among the various organizations (think of a Ven diagram - you know what that is, don't you?), but there have been projects too numerous to mention in which members of the organizations in question were actively on the same page. Suspiciously so (oops, I used the word suspicion - that probably makes me a paranoid conspiracy theorist, doesn't it?).

Truly, it is surprising how precisely like a traditional rebell movement the various pieces collude with each other, while nevertheless trying to maintain plausible deniability.

I note, by the way, that you (the troll), still have not said anything about kneecapping or executions of Fatah activists by Hamas, torture of prisoners by Fatah, or, for that matter, the axe-murder of a child by a Palestinian last week - an act proudly claimed by several of the noble "resistance groups".

I sort of fail to see, as regards that last "courageous act", how smashing out the brains of a child is in any way commendable - but then, I do not support the "resistance", unlike International ANSWER, ISM, SJP, BAWIB, JVP, and even members of Code Pink.

You see, I do not live in Berkeley. That may be a hindrance to true understanding. From your point of view.

Och und vey, my friend, och und vey.

Many of these groups, btw are imploding as members confront them on their anti-Semitism and their hypocracy. At least one former ANSWER regular and member of the Peace and Freedom party defected TO a pro-Israel group in response to the hatred and intolerance she'd seen on the streets.

I've read that there are 65 separate anti-Israel organizations in the Bay area, but within them, the membership overlaps so dramatically, its the same 200 people doing everything. Its the just the thin fragile veneer of a movement.

Anonymous said...

well, still waiting for proof of the claim that Code Pink, JVP, SJP, BAWIB are "wholehearted supporters" of Hamas. Do their members overlap with ANSWER? don't they? do there websites show support of Hamas? where IS the "evidence that's all over the internet"?

this is SJP
http://calsjp.org/about/

this is BAWIB
http://www.bayareawomeninblack.org/who.html

since I'm so dumb I couldn't find the references to the support of Hamas on these websites. So where are they exactly?

Anonymous said...

If you go to their meetings and read their literature (with the exception of Code pink) you realize that the goal is unceasing demonization of Israel in preparation for Israel's destruction.
Women in Black have sponsored talks calling for the destruction of Israel.
Students for Just Us in Palestine calls the existence of Israel "illegal" on its website (although, since we pointed this out fairly recently to them, it may have been deleted)
JVP smiles beatifically while the jihadis around them chant "Kill the Jews", then they turn around and co-sponsor events with the same folks that want them dead.
These are not the good guys.

The folks from San Francisco's Bound Together books, which is heavily associated with Women in Black (hi, Jean and Tom!)have issued public requests for Hamas and Hezbollah flags.

Show me one statement from any of those groups denouncing Hamas and Hezbollah for their unrelenting terror.

As is made clear by their websites, their literature and signs in several protests, and their rhetoric,

That's several things. Not JUST their websites.

Google their names in connection with other search criteria such as 'Gaza', 'Hamas', 'Israel', 'Resistance', 'Aid', 'Weapons', etcetera. These organizations have consistently bee pro-Hamas at demonstrations, in their actions, and in voicing their support. If you cannot find it yourself on the internet, and if you cannot tell from the articles and websites that discuss their participation in demonstrations, their various actions, show their signs, and show who they stood with (without ever divorcing themselves from the other messages at those demonstrations), then the internet is wasted on you.

The point of this post is not their support for Hamas - perhaps reading is an artform, and perhaps you should approach it as such - in this post I take their support for Hamas (as voiced so many times at so many demonstrations) for granted. Their past-history is an open book that clearly shows how they bend. The point of this post was to highlight precisely what the group(s) they support are capable of. Such as blasting kneecaps to smithereens with machine guns, brutal execution of dissenting voices and other activists, repression of their own people, and torture of their prisoners. Clearly these people are not democratically inclined, secular humanistic, or capable of appreciating different points of view or alternate political approaches to their own problems.

And yet, Bay Area activists in all the groups that I mentioned, have voiced their support for them, contributed money to their causes, waved the Hamas flag, and screamed anti-Semitic chants.
Which leads to only one conclusion - the groups I mentioned (but not only those groups) are sodden with anti-Semites who will back any organization, no matter how repulsive, as long as it is anti-Israel and anti-Semitic.

Again, do your own damn' research - I don't have time to babysit you through 'Anti-Semitism 101'.
This is a blog - an expression of MY opinions, experiences, thoughts, and concerns. It is, in other words, a soap-box, a pulpit, a venting of bile. It is not a legal document, nor a news-source, nor even meant to be an authoritative statement. Those too are available and easy to find on the internet.

Feel free to disagree with anything and everything you see here. It is not my task to educate you. Nor am I particularly concerned with whatever you think you know. If you choose to react, fine. A sense of humour, or a certain amount of eloquence will be appreciated. Mental laziness and an inability to do your own reading will not.

Anonymous said...

Look at JVP's statement on the recent Gaza campaign- once again they legitimize Hamas's "resistance" - and they minimize the suffering the people in Southern Israel have gone through- because every one of the thousands of rockets that has been launched from Gaza was meant to maim, kill, and terrorize, and no, they don't seem to care at all.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe how you accuse others of mental laziness, and then write "Bay Area activists in all the groups that I mentioned, have voiced their support for them, contributed money to their causes, waved the Hamas flag, and screamed anti-Semitic chants"

so members of Code Pink, JVP etc waved the Hamas flag and contributed money to Hamas? you should get sued for writing that. Why don't YOU do "your own damned research" yourself, before you write blatantly false statements?

whatever. I heard some pro-Israel activists in SF regularly eat little Palestinian babies for dinner. But I guess that's not "even meant to be an authoritative statement".
