STRONG DOES NOT MEAN TOLERATING CRAP

Apparently my ex-girlfriend is "not feminine enough". Yeah, I know, imagine my surprise. Small waif-like Cantonese woman who likes pretty clothes and jewelry..... Not feminine enough?
Perhaps it's her mouth. She has no problem calling someone an imbecile and a cretin should they do something that proves that they actually are an imbecile and a cretin.
Cantonese women often have quite a "mouth".
Which they should.

My mother, who was by no means Cantonese, would have appreciated that. While at the same time finding something about the girl to criticise.
She probably would have felt that Savage Kitten was too feminine.
They ate girls like that in the Women's Navy Corps.
Needs backbone, is what!

Neither one would be considered a good role-model for the young.
Too short, too stubborn, too mentally independent.
Too lacking in blonde mentality.
Not "girlie" enough.

[Of course my grandmother was the quintessence of "not girlie". Raised two boys after being widowed at a young age, didn't bitch about the cards she was dealt, and was the paradigm of graceful strength until the day she died. Quoted Shakespeare. Less than five feet tall. An independent streak a mile wide. Always a lady. Worth emulating, irrespective of gender.]

I have been fortunate that the most important women in my life had strong minds, well-developed vocabularies, and resilience.
Feminine plenty. Real women.

That's food for thought.
