SPOILER PLATE

The best time of each day for me is between nine and around two o'clock. It's a combination of temperature, body chemistry, and caffeine first hitting the medulla oblongata. The calm after the storm, as it were. The brain is working, the body too, it is reasonably quiet except for nearby sounds of hammering and distantly the street works (giant holes) on Van Ness Avenue.
Conversation is in writing, and the sun is shining.
Heavy iron plates, stimulation.
Smoke.

SPOILER PLATE: a) (noun) any disquisition that conveys too much information about a show, movie, or narrative which one has not (yet) seen or been exposed to enough or at all, which then ruins the surprise. Such as the post by a friend and the comments that followed:

[CITE]
I finally watched "The Rise of Skywalker". The majority of it had been spoiled by now (of course). I honestly think The Last Jedi was the best film in this sequence for so many reasons but the last shot was... cute.

OK, on to some thoughts:

1. Landing a party on a Star Destroyer was a HELLA cool visual, but how are they breathing and not freezing to death? Yes it's in an atmosphere but those things have to be high up.
2. ANY ship is a planet killer if you try hard enough.
3. Palpatine was a full on Republic Serial villain. OK that's not a nitpick, that was a plus.
4. The scene where the rest of the galaxy shows up was the first time in ANY Star Wars movie that there was a sense of scale. Normally it feels like waring countries in the guise of planets

Commenter A: Not really best pleased with the fact that all those horse-like creatures presumably *died* there.

Commenter B: The last shot was cute but thematically pretty stupid. Rey should have flown off in the Falcon into the sunset. Ending on the desert planet all the characters hated was dumb in the first place...an empty nostalgia grab. But having her feet planted firmly on the ground, subtly implying that's where she's staying?

Commenter C: Nothing changed. It was all for nothing. The noisy arrested development fanboys' reaction to Last Jedi scared them. The last shot tells me that empty nostalgia grabs are where the franchise will be stuck forever. Maybe not true, but that's what they conveyed to me.

[END CITE. MORE NERD WORDING FOLLOWED.]

All of this would be fascinating IF I had any intention of watching. The entire franchise lost my interest after our heroes were not devoured in the Geonosian Arena, by which time I had gotten sick of them. It's splendid visually, but about as satisfactory as any pointless meandering narrative. In principle, I support the bad guys, as they are more likeable in the story.

SPOILER PLATE: b) (noun) the warnings on containers of pills, alcohol, or tobacco, such as "may cause drowsiness, don't take when nursing or trying to get pregnant, hallucinations are rare, harms puppies, triggers vegans plus other Berkeleyites, stop taking if skin erupts in boils and sloughs off, harms lungs, lips, gums, computer parts, or the planet, etcetera".

AND ALSO ....

In other developments, the flood of batshit Trumpite dingbattery continues. Apparently you cannot enter heaven come the uplift if you've been vaccinated, there are FOREIGN fibres in Democratic ballots that tell the Chinese exactly where you are, masks cause facial cancers because Bill Gates wants your adrenal glands or sumpin', and beef has been cancelled.

Nanochips, 5G, what about Covid 1 through 18?

Izza kommie plot!

To be honest, I am perfectly fine with people refusing to get the vaccine and dying. Many if not all of them are idiots, Republicans, Fundies, and conspiracy nuts. The problem is that we don't have a guarantee that it's just them who will croak, and they endanger others by their actions. Nor do we have any assurance that all of them will leave fast enough.
"On a lighter note, looks like you picked the perfect hat". Gotta remember that for when the conversation heads south. As, when I'm at work, it often does.
