A TRULY SPECIAL DAY

Yesterday, as you know, was Mothers Day. And the internet would not let anyone forget. Which made it all the more insufferable for anyone who was not a mother. Such as this blogger.

Mom. The flag. Apple pie.

Largely I dislike America's made-up holidays like Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Saint Patrick's Day, Groundhog Day, 4/20, Valentine's, and Cinco De Mayo. What IS worth a giant party is, of course, Donut Day. Which should be celebrated with fireworks, extravaganzas, Toyotathons, and a festive parade down Main Street, just like the others. And instead of them.

Forget the flowers, tequila in bed, and boxes of chocolates.

Don't clean the house and trash the kitchen.

Donuts. Just donuts.
Hang an appropriate image on your door from the end of September till after New Year.
Then go back to sleep.

Do NOT post pictures of yourself and a parent from when you still wore diapers. Do NOT show us a grave stone. Do NOT lament what once was. Do NOT tell as about your once a year visit to a retirement home. Or play sappy music.

Donut Day is coming up on June 4.

Make hoopla.
