Comments on a recent string proved illustrative of the opposition to the deal that is presently up for congressional consideration between the civilized world and Iran. For the benefit of my readers I have cherry-picked the ones that best represent the Republican point of view.
These are their most cogent arguments against the deal.
Lyrical, succinct, and full of 'unassailable logic'.
Please note that I have omitted the names of the god-fearing stalwarts who penned these statements. There was no need to publicize them, and other than mentioning that they were responding to a Ha'aretz article on Facebook, I shan't go into sourcing details.

This is nonsense, and you know it. You abandoned this cause years ago.
Netanyahu assumed office years ago.
And during his term, the pretense at two states for two peoples crumbled completely, for which he is largely to blame.
At every opportunity the Netanyahu government tried to embarass the Obama administration, often announcing settlement expansion when it could do the most damage.
And you remember that even at that time I was still part of every demo.
But between the assholes (don't make me name names, because I will) on our side in San Francisco, the deliberate sabotaging of every effort at negotiations internationally, and the recent all-out assault on the Obama administration, there is no participatory reason nor incentive left.
On the other hand, given the large number of rightwing assholes who have come out of the woodwork, there is every reason to cringe anytime someone opens their mouth, and every reason to avoid the cause and its adherents like the plague.
Besides, that comment you made suggests that if one doesn't support "the cause" lock stock and barrel one hundred percent, including Netanyahu and the rightwing assholes (because they too are part of the cause), one has 'abandoned' it, and can no longer be considered 'on the right side'.
Screw that attitude.
And altogether, that's far too similar to the "no real Jew supports Obama" line that the rightwing assholes are using, as well as uncomfortably close to the aspersion of untrustworthiness that anti-Semites have always used.
Stalin and Mao's henchmen also employed that approach.
So, for that matter, did the coffee-mooching reactionaries whom I started avoiding in 2010.
There is no room for other points of view, other interpretations. Those will be shouted down, sneered at, criticized. Anyone who disagrees will be harangued, called names, and have their loyalties questioned.
