OBAMA AND NETANYAHU VERSUS THE UNITED STATES AND ISRAEL

Several items I found in my inbox recently convince me that the world is a strange and dangerous place filled with individuals only tenuously grasping at reality. Not that I needed any further convincing at all, because I already despair over many humans and their frail intellects.
A few of my fellow bipeds are rather less brilliant than chimpanzees.
Or chipmunks, if chipmunks have chipmunkish brilliance.
Their mothers probably think they do.

Note to some of my readers and friends: Kindly shitcan it; president Obama is not Netanyahu's house nigger, so you should stop acting so bloody indignant.

[And cease sending me links to Pamela Geller. That bitch is certifiably insane.]

You would do well to remember that our president is the elected leader of the world's most powerful nation. A nation which funds Israel's security and continued survival to the tune of five billion in tax dollars every year. Whereas Israel is a small and incredibly irritating ally, for whom we feel a great measure of affection, and with whom we recognize that we have shared ideals, plus some significant commonalities.
Israel is by no means our most important ally.
Though sometimes a strategic asset.

Netanyahu, on the other hand, is b'emmes ein gefall.

Not quite a behaima und a lemmel.

But getting there.

Close.

So disappointing, coming from you, after all you've seen

Why? I was extraordinarily restrained. Unlike people who are calling Obama every name in the book, because he has the temerity to be not totally obedient to Netanyahu.

And Netanyahu should NOT have turned Israel support into a partisan issue.

But he did.

Which is why everyone who dislikes Obama now feels justified letting out their inner racist, OR their inner rightwing religious nut.

Did everyone get their script from Christians United For Israel?

I liked Likud when Sharon was still in control. Netanyahu is not half the man that his brother Yoni was, and far worse a man than Sharon in a coma.

And I should hasten to mention that my loathing for the current crop of Republicans has surpassed even what I felt during the Bush years.
By a very wide margin.

For further reference, here's a list of good prime ministers of Israel:

David Ben Gurion
Moshe Sharett
Levi Eshkol
Golda Meir
Menachem Begin
Yitzhak Shamir
Yitzhak Rabin
Shimon Peres

Ariel Sharon has more than half a foot on that list.

Here's a list of good Republican Presidents of the United States:

Abraham Lincoln
Ulysses S. Grant.
Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Please note that this list is both comprehensive and complete.

Israel's budget for 2015 is 88 billion. Extra 5 billion makes comfortable, but not a decisive difference. Not even close.

Maybe it is time for Israel to start living within its means. If only to make that much harder justification of funding by our nation of various Arab countries "to the tune of five billion in tax dollars every year".

Very good points.

Both the five versus 88, and the possibilities of Arab rhetoric.

I note that Egypt and the Pallies are also beneficiaries of our tax money.

And, indirectly, the rest of Nato, who spend far less of their GDP on their own defense than we do on theirs.
