INTERCOURSE TEXAS

According to a Newsweek article, a fundraiser for a woman who lost her job because she told Muslims to go back where they came from in Texas has raised 80% of its stated goal. "You’re really not welcome in this state or this country, you’re not welcome here, this is not a Muslim country, this is a Christian country, and you need to leave. You need to go back to your Islamic country where you came from."

Within months of being back in the United States years ago I was told something very similar. In every year since then I've heard the same thing, more or less, a number of times. Once at a pro-Israel counter demo where I was holding an Israeli flag, a pro-Palestinian said to me and others that we should go back where we came from.
That was here in the Bay Area.

Much of my ancestry is New York Dutch from before the revolution.

Hell will bloody well freeze over before I ever visit Texas.
I am also on the fence about the East Bay.

In both Oakland and Berkeley I have been told to "go back" where I came from. By people of all kinds, but obviously mostly by people of the rightwing stripe, many of them ideologically closer to Texas than I'm comfortable with.
To the best of my knowledge, not a single member of my family has ever worn Confederate grey. There aren't many true-blue Texans EXCEPT immigrants who can say the same.

Everything is bigger in Texas.
Including assholes.
