Very minor cataractization, no biggy. Eyeball pressure appears to be stable, but we'll set you up for another four months from now.
Also, another appointment set up for four months after that.
Got out in a reasonable time, and after taking care of some business elsewhere I realized that it was still far too early for the congee at the place I had thought of going to afterwards seeing as I was nearby anyhow, and went down the street eleswhere for breakfast and a cuppa. 豬肝豬腰粥同一根油條,一杯奶茶 ('jü gon jü yiu juk tung yat gan yau tiu, yat pui naai chaa').
It is surprising how much of one's ability to functions, feel comfortable, and enjoy a nice breakfast and a beverage, is dependent on being able to focus fairly well and not have the intense glare of dull daylight on an overcast morning irritate the living spit out of one. Remember those drops to dilate? They take over four hours to wear off.

Fortunately blurry vision does not interfere with being able to fill and smoke one's pipe. Just so you know. Be sure to bring a briar or two and a pouch of tobacco when you visit your eye doctor. Any doctor, really. For afterwards.
Those little temporary shades they give you that can be folded over your regular specs don't really help, but that was probably because my regular specs are readers so that I don't harm myself with a teacup or an utensil because of a loss of acute focus in the last twelve inches before impact. Also, a man naturally wants to see where the flame above his bowl is.
By the way: They've destroyed Portsmouth Square in order to "improve" it, a city project which I fully expect to take longer than originally planned and go over budget. Part of the work was tearing out the trees. Bloody heathens.
The rats are going to be or already have been exterminated. I wonder what happened to all the elderly people who used to play cards there all day. Did they eradicate those too?
