BLESSED ARE THE GREEK

It's not just distance; sometimes the person speaking is quite indistinct. Or they have one of those queer accents that make it impossible to understand them at all.
I watched part of Life of Brian again recently. For those who don't know, it's an educational movie about the origins of Seventh Day Adventism, very well worth watching. It's informative!
If you are religiously inclined, it will change you.

At some point, an early disciple of Werner Erhard states "blessed are the Greek, for they shall inherit the earth".

The cheese makers will also be rewarded.

Greek cheese makers are doubly blessed.

Chinese Americans, judging by this creed, are rather out of luck.

You cannot find bougatsa or tyropita in Chinatown.

Europeans may be surprised at this.

We Americans are not fazed by this at all, and don't look for either of those two comestibles in Chinatown in any case. We're more intrigued by the hunt for the world's best Sweet and Sour Pork or Kung Pao Chicken. Which we know are both somewhere close by, but the locals won't let us know where.

We'll let you hold our delicious cheese if you tell us.

Oh please, we can keep a secret.

It's kind of a quest.
