We're running out of hot sauce at work. And since there are fewer Mexicans shopping at the nearby convenience store, the Indians only stock wussy-arse hot sauce suitable for Trump voters. So my key task this morning, which I above all must not forget to do, is to stick that bottle I bought the other day in my backpack. Otherwise I'll be eating very white for lunch. Heaven forfend.
That was something I did the first year I was back in the States. I lost nearly sixty pounds. It was a horrible period. There was absolutely nothing good to eat. Nothing at all.
Perhaps that was also the time I took the vegetarian on a date, to her favourite restaurant. Where I was exposed to tofu fried mahogony brown in special good karma oil.
There was no second date.
The realization that many North American Caucasians are goofy as all git-out has become more clear, more crystalized, and far firmer with each passing year. The proof of that pudding is that so many of them still eat white folks food, or vegetarian, or gluten-free, or saints preserve us vegan. All of which are cult versions of white folks food anyway.
It was Americans who invented the gluten-free no dairy pizza. Obviously, in so far as Italians are aware of that abomination, they have never forgiven us. And East Asia still wants to talk to us about what we've done with tofu.
As a Dutch American, I'm still wondering how to combine cheese and tofu.
Perhaps with some herring or smoked eel thrown in.
And liberal sploodges of sambal.
No, not on pizza. On noodles. As a breakfast item.
Please do NOT throw things at me! It's just an idea! And until I've come up with the perfect recipe I shall not subject anyone else to it. Besides, the interventionary cardioligist who did the angioplasty on my right leg would probably have words with me. Seeing as rhetorically at least cheese is both his favourite description of arterial plaque AND something he knows far too much about as a man who presumably has lactose intolerance and a healthy life-style.
The right leg really does function a lot better now, thank you.
And I've only had a little cheese since the procedure.
