IT'S A GREAT PYRAMID

Today I learned not to discuss longans with him. Dimocarpus longan (龍眼 'lung ngaan') is a beloved juicy sweet fruit that benefits the mucus membranes, native to Southern China and Vietnam. I had bought them at a small shop on Stockton between Pacific and Broadway. East side of street, so heading north from where we were it would have been on the right hand side. "Left side?" No, right. "Left?" No, right. "Around the corner on Jackson?" No, on Stockton Street. "Jackson?" No, Stockton. Past Pacific. "So it's on Jackson, right?" No, on Stockton Street. "On the left hand side?" No, on the right. Two blocks away. "Around the corner here?" No. Straight down Stockton Street on the right hand side before you get to Broadway. "So it's on Jackson?" No, Stockton. Stockton Street. Before Broadway.

His pointing and gesticulating was entirely in the opposite direction.
As he had strained his back, that may not have been good.

In any case, his ears and his brain are suffering from an excess of old age and undoubted neglect. He should have exercised greater care of his cerebral cortex when younger, and taken it out of the box occasionally. Perhaps given it a run around the block once or twice.
The ears, well, can't do anything about that. They're shot.

When the second fellow arrived I absconded.

There are many things that I am. What with being well-rounded and multi-facetted. But keen to have exactly the same conversation again I am by a long shot totally at all not.

Every other conversation had been in Cantonese. This was in English.
Many of my English conversations veer on gibbering.
It's the audience, you understand.

But on second thought .....

San Francisco is warmly nurturing of a great many styles of human being. Some of whom are not the best representatives of one of the three sentient species on this planet.
One wonders how they ended up at the top of the food chain.
