Something like seventy thousand customers in Northern California are without power during hot weather because of fire danger. So they're also without their airconditioning. Two things stand out here: those are "European conditions", so the suffering is immense and somehow disapproving, and also they won't be able to read this or any other liberal opinions and wisdom on the internet. Unless they have back-up generators.
Oh, and food becomes a bit iffy under these circumstances.
PG&E, let us not forget, is a capitalistic enterprise.
Their only concerns are profit and liabilities.
Complete fetterlessness.
So you're totally on your own boys, and screw you. Jesus hates you and loves big capitalism. That's why the folks in all the red states want you to suffer, with your marijuana and sage and hot tubs and gluten-free all natural lifestyle, free expression, and hippie habits. Texas and the rest of them spit on you. And on the graves of your pet gerbils.
One of my friends lives somewhere in that zone. I hope that he is not discomfitted, and is smoking his pipe on his veranda peacefully, patiently awaiting the return of electricity. He likes many of the same pipe tobaccos as myself, and I happen to know he is well-stocked at present. So as long as there is some way to make coffee, things will be kind of okay.
If the power was turned off in San Francisco, within hours locals would grab their pitchforks and head over to the PG&E offices on Market Street . We know where they are. Which, of course, is precisely why they would only shut off the electric power in the city under extreme circumstances. Forcing us to go without coffee for half a day would be a death sentence for them. And frozen drinks. Gotta have those frozen drinks.
Imagine Texas without lousy beer. Precisely so.
Lukewarm Lone Star. Or Coors.
That would be like the South of France.
And we can't have that.
Anarchy.
